DocuSign Permission Profiles
Each Docusign user is assigned a Permission Profile that defines the behaviors and available actions.
Profiles Used at Marquette
The first time you log into Docusign.com with your marquette.edu email address, Docusign automatically creates an account for you with the "Docusign Viewer" permission profile.
If you need to send an envelope or use a shared template, submit a TechSquad service request.

Docusign Viewer – This is the default role assigned to anyone with a valid Marquette email address who creates an account after signing a document.

Dept User – This user role is reserved for university employees who will need to send one-time digital documents. A Dept User can use shared templates but cannot create templates.

Dept PowerUser – Users with the PowerUser role can build templates and PowerForms for users.

Dept Admin – Dept Admins can add users, assign permission profiles, and run account-wide reports.

Clues to Determine Your Current Profile
- Dept Users have a yellow box on the Home tab and on the Agreements tab to send an envelope.
- Dept PowerUsers have a yellow NEW box on the Templates tab.
- Only Dept Admin have the Admin tab.
