D2L Faculty Sandbox Site
What is a Faculty Sandbox Site?
A faculty sandbox is a dedicated D2L course shell that instructors can use to build and organize course materials, explore D2L features, and test functionality without affecting an active D2L course. Sandboxes are not associated with any specific term and remain available to the instructor indefinitely.
IMPORTANT
Only faculty members are to be enrolled in a D2L Faculty Sandbox Course. Student enrollment in a sandbox is not permitted.
How to request a Faculty Sandbox
Place a Faculty Sandbox Site Service Request in the TechSquad portal.
Requesting a New Faculty Sandbox Site
- In the "Type of Request" drop-down, select Create New Faculty Sandbox.
- In the "Sandbox Name" field, enter the preferred name of the Sandbox Site. ("Sandbox" will be automatically prepended to the name you submit.)
- Click or tap Place Request. Upon submission of the service request, a Sandbox Site will be automatically generated in D2L. The Requester will receive an email notification from the TechSquad.
- Log into D2L.
- Search for the Sandbox name provided in the service request.
Note: Sandbox Courses are not associated with a specific term. On the D2L "My Courses" widget, the sandbox will only appear with the "No Term" or "All Courses" filter.
Requesting a Modification to an Existing Faculty Sandbox Site
Submit a new service request if you need changes made to an existing sandbox site.
- In the "Type of Request" drop-down, select Modify Existing Faculty Sandbox.
