Administering Listservs with Email Commands
Listservs allow list owners and subscribers to maintain their lists using email or the Listserv web interface.
Sending an email to members of the list
- Send the message to {list}@listserv.marquette.edu, where {list} is replaced with the name of your list, for example LS-TEST@listserv.marquette.edu.
- Enter the subject of the message.
- Enter the message in the body of the email.
Sending commands via email to Marquette Listservs
- Send an email to list@listserv.marquette.edu.
- Leave the subject of the email blank.
- Enter the appropriate command in the body of the message, as shown in the tables below.
Email commands for list subscribers
To do this Listserv action...
...Enter this in the body of the email message.
Replace {list} below with the list name (e.g., LS-TEST)
Remove yourself from a list
unsubscribe {list} firstname lastname
Example: unsubscribe LS-TEST Jane Doe
Subscribe to a list —This may send an email to the list owner(s) with a request for you to be added.
subscribe {list} firstname lastname
Example: subscribe LS-TEST Jane Doe
Receive a copy of email you send to the list (if you have permission to send to the list)
set {list} repro
Example: set LS-TEST repro
