Windows 11 Upgrade - Workaround
If you attempt to upgrade your computer using Software Center and it fails or if the upgrade is not in Software Center, try the following steps.
1. Open File Explorer (Windows key + e)
2. Type \\marqnet.mu.edu\repos\software\public\Microsoft\ISO\11 into the location bar.
3. Right-click the Win_Pro_11_24H2_64B.ISO and choose Mount.
4. Select Open on the Security popup.
5. Right-click setup.exe and Run as Administrator.
If the above instructions do not work, try the following. For this workaround, you do not need to be connected to a VPN.
NOTE: Sometimes, the installation assistant asks to download the PC Health check and states that the computer is "managed by the organization." This is fine, and you should be able to proceed with the download and installation.
After you download the Installation Assistant:
- Select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
- Once the tool confirms the device hardware is compatible, you will be presented with the license terms. Select Accept and Install.
- Once the tool is ready, click the Restart Now button to complete installation on your computer.
- It might take some time to install Windows 11, and your PC will restart a few times. Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.
