5. On your phone, install the Microsoft Authenticator app from your phone’s app store. Once installed, go back to your account on your computer, and click “Next” within the prompt.
On your Apple iOS device, go to the App Store and install the application labeled “Microsoft Authenticator” You can download it from this link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-authenticator/id983156458
On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and install the application labeled "Microsoft Authenticator." You can download the app from this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.azure.authenticator&hl=en_US

6. Click “Next” again until you reach a prompt containing a QR code.

7. Within the Microsoft Authenticator app, click the QR code icon at the bottom of the home screen of the app. After you click that icon, scan the QR code.

8. Once the QR code has been scanned, your Microsoft Authenticator app will now have a profile for your Marquette account.

9. Once you have Authenticator linked to your account, you will want to change the method by which you will authenticate using multi-factor authentication. Please return to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ and log in if you are not already logged in.

10. In the next screen, click “Security Info” located in the left-hand column.

11. The “Security Info” tab will now display each option you have registered for multi-factor authentication. Click “Change.”

A drop down will appear with multiple options for multi-factor authentication:
- Phone – Call (least secure)
- Phone – Text
- App based authentication – notification (push notification)
- App based authentication or hardware token – code (most secure)

12. Choose your preferred method. “App based authentication or hardware token – code” is recommended. This method generates a new time-based one-time passcode in the Authenticator app that rotates every 30 seconds. All methods are valid, but we do not recommend using Phone Call or SMS/text messages due to security issues. If you do not have a Smartphone, you can select Call or Text, assuming that you have a phone number registered.
13. Click “Confirm.”
