What's Respondus LockDown Browser?
Respondus LockDown Browser is a specialized web browser, designed to secure an online testing environment. This academic integrity software restricts students from accessing other websites, applications, or resources while taking an exam. When using LockDown Browser, students cannot navigate away from the test or open additional tabs or programs.
Launching Respondus LockDown Browser
- Log into D2L.
- Navigate to the course.
- Locate the quiz/exam.
- Ensure the most current version of Respondus LockDown Browser is downloaded prior to entering exam.
- Select Start Quiz.

Devices compatible with Respondus LockDown Browser
- Chromebooks, Smartphones and Android tablets will not work
- Computer or laptop (Windows 11 or 10; macOS 10.15 or higher)
- If allowed by instructor: iPad (12.0 or higher)
- If needed, students can reserve a laptop by visiting the Raynor Library's Computing Services webpage.
