Requesting New Integrations in D2L
Instructors seeking new integrations in D2L should consult the list of current integrations. If the desired tool or a comparable alternative is not available, the instructor may submit a TechSquad request.
Every new integration in D2L undergoes an extensive review. This is not a brief process and instructors should plan accordingly. This review seeks to confirm:
- Compatibility with Marquette’s D2L environment
- Security of all Marquette data exchanged with the third-party tool
- Accessibility in accordance with Marquette’s accessibility policy
- Compliance with FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
- No conflict with any of Marquette’s existing contractual commitments
- Little or no redundancy with already-available tools
Due to the volume and variety of requests, not all tools can be integrated into D2L as requested. Representatives from the Center for Teaching and Learning, Student Educational Services, and IT Services evaluate and prioritize requests with the greatest utility for the greatest number of instructors and students.
When submitting a request, instructors are asked for supporting documentation on the above topics, a contact person for the tool provider, which course(s) the integration would be used in, and a brief description of how students would benefit from making the integration available. Please be as thorough and detailed as you can when filling out the request.
Once all supporting information is received, IT Services coordinates review among the Center for Teaching and Learning, Student Educational Services, Office of the Registrar, Office of General Counsel, Department of Purchasing, and others as needed.
