Student Pronouns in D2L

D2L can display students' pronouns on Classlists and on their profile card in the Discussions tool. Students can choose to share their pronouns in D2L by following the steps below.

Set Your Pronouns in CheckMarq

Like other personal identifying information, students may identify their pronouns in CheckMarq. That information may be shared with other campus systems, including D2L, to let users of those systems know how you should be addressed.

Make Your Pronouns Visible in D2L

When you save your pronouns in CheckMarq, they are sent to D2L. However, they are not visible to anyone else in D2L until you allow it.

Follow these steps to allow others to see your pronouns in D2L.

Log into D2L at d2l.mu.edu.
Click or tap your name in the upper right corner to see profile and account options. Select Account Settings.
On the Account Settings page, see the Pronouns section. You should see the pronouns here that you previously identified in CheckMarq.
Click or tap the Allow others to see my pronouns checkbox.
Click or tap the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Where Are Pronouns Visible in D2L?

After a student has chosen to display their pronouns, they are visible to other students and instructors in two locations in D2L:

Classlists. If a student has allowed others to see their pronouns, they will appear beside their name on D2L Classlists.

Discussion Profiles. In the Discussions section, click or tap a photo to view the author's profile. If the author has allowed others to see their pronouns, they will be visible on the profile card.
